Comments: I ask all my American brothers and sisters to please take a good look at this boy and everything that he has gone through. He lost his mother at sea, her dying wish, to see her son have the freedoms that she was destined to never experience. I was born in the US, like many of you. We have never experienced the oppressions that those in Castro's Cuba have. It is easy for us to take our freedom for granted. It is easy for us to take our food for granted. These are things that Elian and many other children in Cuba do not have. Please take a closer look. I know that if my child had the opportunity to have these freedoms, I would let him go. This father has a hidden agenda. Please I urge you to investigate this issue before condemning this boy.

Comments: I don't see how Ms.Reno, the federal government and the INS, want to send little Elian back to cuba, when we all know what his future will be like there. What is mr. Castro going to do???? What did he called it??? Oh! yes, he has to be reprogrammed. What exactly is Elian, a computer, that receives information and processes it without any feelings? Elian saw his mother die triying to bring him to a country that would offer him a better future, he had the glance of a new life here and now our government, together with Mr. Castro, and the so called father want to take all his dreams away from him. All that he has left from his mother are his memories, and the las ones are of her bringing him here for a better life. Shouldn't we let him keep what's left of her inside of him? Shouldn't his father want him to be at a place where he has a future, and he will be protected from mr. Castro's REPROGRAMMING EFFORTS? I am sure that his father loves him, and in loving him he should see for his son's future, and not for himself!!!

What people don't seem to understand is sending him back to Cuba means that we are going to be sending him into the arms of Fidel Castro, who is as horrible and dispicable as Adolf Hitler! Juan Miguel Gonzalez is an abusive man who beat Elizabet(May she rest in peace) and also abused his son Elian, that is why he is so scared to see his father, because he remembers the torment that happened to him. Elian's mother died so that her child could have a better life, a life that all children in the United States have, and that is the right to freedom of speech, and the right not to be forced to believe one way or another on anything. Castro has already stated that Elian needs to be "reprogramed" what does he mean by that? I think that we already know what he means by that. If Elian goes back to Cuba, Castro will fill his head with crap and tell him that his mother was a fool to bring him to the United States and that is WRONG!! Elian's mother was a woman that cared about her child, that is why she brought him here. Don't let her death be in vein. May God bless Elizabet Gonzalez and may God Bless Elian, he is an angel!!

Comments: I am a Therapist in El Paso, Texas and I have worked with many children and families. Six year old children know when they are safe and what makes them happy. He is safe and happy living with the relatives. If his Father really loves him, he will let him stay in the U.S. with this new Mother. The Father needs to be evaluated by a psychologist and a background check needs to be done before he is allowed to have any contact with the child. The Child's wishes need to be respected. He has been through enough and should not have to start over again. God put him where he wanted him to be. Leave him there, please!

As Americans we need to take a stand against the goverment and stand up for our rights, for Elain's rights. We need to send a LOUD message, not a violent one to the President and Janet Reno and tell them we dont want Castro to control this boy! He wants to live in Miami with his uncle and cousin. He has EVERY right to do so. His father has been here for only one week, and before that no one knew where he was for three months?!? Comments: Elian should be allowed to stay in the United States, his mothers' wishes should be honoured. If you look at it from the fathers point of view, maybe yes he probably has the right to take him to Cuba, but shouldn't he, the father honour the mothers wishes also. how did Fidel Castro get mixed up in this, would that not set a precedent for Castro to take anyone back to Cuba that he wants to if he gets involved in family affairs, what is in this for the dictator.
