Guestbook Archives

From January through late April, 2000. this website hosted a guestbook, originally designed as a support forum for those who supported Elian's freedom in the United States.  It soon became evident, however, that there were those who wanted to debate the issue.  I allowed debate as long as certain rules were followed--no flaming, no vulgarities, no libel.  I only had to delete a few posts.   But when the jackbooted thugs raided the Miami home, the posts became unmanageable.   Most of those who opposed Elian's freedom became extremely hateful in their posts.   It became too much of a hassle to screen those posts, so I eliminated the guestbook entirely, and replaced it with a monitored message board.

Only history will tell us if our efforts were in vain.  But these posts are very special because they are a labor of love from all of those individuals from around the world who believed in Elian's freedom.  The debates are lively, but they speak volumes about the character of everyone who took the time to write.
