: Get acquainted with the Cuban Code of the Child published in 1978 and still valid if you think that the Cuban state is not in possession of parental rights. The State determines whom you are to associate with, what sort of education you will receive (depending on political attitude), at age 11 you have to yield your son to the state for separate indoctrination, what sort of values you are authorized to pass on to your son, etc, etc. Read the bloody document my friends if you think this is a typical custody case. The boy refuses this hell!

We have had enough of this Canadian lumpen( Giczey) who abuses the freedom of speech of this site. Even filibusters(diatribes) are subject to cloture. He said all his totalitarian loving mind has to say on the subejct and has convinced no one with an I.Q. of 100 or higher. The rest is repetition and vitriol. The site of likeminded people supporting the return of the boy erases comments in true fascistic manner. The time has come to apply to him what his friends apply to defenders of Elian. Zip it Giczey or be zipped. Valenza has shown a remarkable tolerance allowing this red-fascist sympathizer spout his venom. I'd love to buy him a one way ticket to the tropical workers paradise. In the meantime: Basta, assez, nicht mehr!

Thursday is "d-day" for Elian Gonzalez. Here are my thoughts on this: The family has been to hell and back with this whole situation. The easy thing to do would have been for them to have handed him over to the Cuban government. No hassle, no headache, no persecution from Cuban-haters or American-hating Canadians. But instead they chose to do the LOVING thing and do what they could to protect little Elian's life. To me, their love for this boy has been tested and re-tested. They have experienced more agony than most parents ever experience in a lifetime. Whatever happens in this case...the Gonzalez family, including the cousin, should be admired and deeply respected for their courage and their determination to do the right thing. Remember...what is legal is not always what is right, moral, or just. The Gonzalez's are true heroes in my book. God bless the Gonzalez family.

?First of all I don’t believe for a minute that you are using your real name or that you are Canadian. I am almost positive you are a Cuban agent, working for his pimp (Castro) in the free-world. Of course, using an underground pseudo, like all of your kind, hiding like cowards, to do the devil’s work. Prostitues usually sell their bodies for money, you sell your honor, your integrity, your soul, your humanity . How can you have an understanding? if you do not posses enough “gray matter” to realize what harm can come to that little boy if returned to Cuba and to every other human being, under the same circumstances in other parts of the world trying to be free. Your repugnant rhetoric full of hateful lies created by a communist dictator’s regime, can only come from the sewer collection printed in the ONLY newspaper that exists in Cuba since the early 1960's, after Castro had all the newspapers, magazines, and TV stations confiscated and closed, allowing only his communist propaganda, which is all “CREATIVE WRITING AND WISHFUL THINKING ON HIS PART.” You must come from a very disgusting family. For you to even hint that Elian’s cousin is capable of molesting that child, just because they share a room, tells me a lot about the kind of disgusting family you come from. I can only imagine the kind of sexual abuse you have been subjected to, by your mother, grandmother, cousins, siblings, etc., all through your life, to even have such a sick thought! Thinking about your situation, I came to the conclusion that what you really deserve is pity! I do have a message for your wife, (if she is not a figment of your imagination) She should keep an eye on you, when you are around her children! As for your empty assumption on Mas Santos financial situation, I can see that your problem is envy. But let’s suppose that what you are saying is true, would he be the only business man in the US to do that? I will give you just one example, John F. Kennedy and his whole family, multi-millionaires. How did his father make his millions? He made all of his money illegally, he was a bootlegger, involved with the mafia. He was also involved with the Nazis, and one of his sons became president of the United States with bought votes, not to mention the rest of the disgraceful things most his other family members have been involved with, DUI’s and leaving a woman to die after driving into the water, rapes, you name it, they have done it. Look at our present president, want a more stomach turning human being? Regarding your reasoning as to the father’s right to speak for Elian, it’s getting quite old! How many times do you need us to explain that in any normal situation the child belongs with the parent, BUT CUBA’S SITUATION IS IN NO WAY NORMAL. If you talk on the phone with one of your family members, a family member which you have had a close relationship within the past, wouldn’t you know exactly what they were trying to tell you even if they couldn’t be open in the conversation? This family was close, where do you think Juan Miguel got the video camera, the clothes they wore, and the money to buy food and other things on the black market or the dollar only stores? From his family in Miami, like many other families in Miami that are sending millions to their family members in Cuba. The slow dying population in Cuba, if they don’t have someone in the United States to send them dollars, they are completely out of luck, since Castro hates the “CAPITALIST YANKEE PIGS” but he loves their dollars. As for your quote “dirty Miami Cubans” I don’t think you are racist, I do think you are a “DIRTY MIAMI CUBAN, DISHONORABLE CASTRO PROSTITUTE.”

?As you provably all know, Elian’s team of lawyers is doing all their work completely for free! But unfortunately, we also know, there will be thousands of dollars in other legal costs. Elian's family is not at all wealthy, to the contrary, it's a very hard working family but they do not have the financial means. Several radio stations will host a radio-marathon this coming Friday, March 10th from 9AM to 12PM and Saturday, March 11th from 10AM on. The main radio stations working on this will be RADIO MAMBI and LA PODEROSA, both located in Miami. The “ELIAN GONZALEZ’S FUND” is being done through any “OCEAN BANK” in Florida. All you need to do, if you want to donate whatever amount you want, is call the bank directly, they will give you all the information you need. After the legal costs (NOT THE LAWYERS) are all paid, and everything is over, any money left on that account will be donated to “Liga Contra el Cancer” (Cancer Society.)

Lupe, I would like to donate some money, but I do not live in Florida. Please Email or post some phone numbers to call. I am also starting a car wash with my kids and friends to raise money. Keep up the good work on all the information you post. I could tell this case is real dear to your heart. Do not let people piss you off to where you loose control. In my experiance with people. There is always someone that is against any idea good or bad. This is what makes this country so great. I retired from the Military where I fought against communism in other countries. I fought to help people in my country and help others live a better life. When I hear Evil comments by people in this country and else where, it makes me sick. We are all immigrants and we all came here illeagaly. These laws were not around when we took this land from the true American Indian. So lets cut the crap. The Boy has every right to stay here like we did when we landed on Plymouth Rock. We left for some of the same reasons. Lets study our history as Americans. We have a melting pot of cultures and enjoy freedom like no other country. I think thats why we tend to take it for granted and try to send people back to where they came from. I wish the American Indian could do the same. I still want to learn more about Cuba, If you guys have books or movies about Cuba. Not Post Castro stuff. Please Email me with the information.

ELIAN IS NOT AN ORPHAN! HE BELONGS WITH HIS FATHER! HE IS HERE BECAUSE THESE MIAMI RELATIVES THOUGHT TO GAIN FROM ELIAN. HE IS ALSO HERE BECAUSE HE IS BEING MISUSED AS A POLITICAL PAWN BY THIS PRESENT GOVERNMENT (WHO WON'T EVEN ENFORCE IT'S OWN LAWS)! HE IS BEING HELD A PAWN AS CLINTON & COMPANY WANTS THAT MINORITY VOTE!!!!!! I PRAY THAT ELIAN WILL VERY SHORTLY NOT BE OF ANY USE TO ANYONE HERE SO HE CAN GO TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND BEGIN TO HEAL FROM THIS MESS. THAT MIAMI BUNCH SHOULD BE PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO THEIE OWN KIDS! OUR COURTS SHOULD'NT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM TOO!

Clinton is a lame duck President at this time. So what votes does he have to gain? The majority of the Hispanics in Miami are Republican anyway, so what votes does he have to gain? Lets get real people these opinions seem to be motivated by HATE. Both side of Elians family love him. This is common knowledge. Both families want the best for the child. You have to look at the big picture to understand. You have not lived it or taken the time out learn it, keep your opinions to yourself. Thats right we live in a free society. Jail is not an issue. Today is the day. I know he will stay. "Miami Bunch" sounds like resentment or hate.

SO FREE YOUR MINDS AND CONSIDER: ELIAN CAME FROM A LOVING HOME WHERE HE HAD A HAPPY LIFE BEING LOVED AND CARED FOR BY HIS FAMILY AND ENJOYING BEING A BUDDY WITH HIS FATHER. HE IS NOW IN A FAMILY WHERE HE IS PARADED FOR CAMERAS HELD BY THE ARM CONSTANTLY, AS IF ON A LEASH!! HIS COMPANIONS (HIS GREAT UNCLES CHILDREN) ARE RACKING UP COURT AND CRIMINAL RECORDS OF THEIR OWN. DON'T YOU THINK THEIR FATHER SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION TO THEM???? IF HE WERE HANGING ON THE THEIR ARMS MAYBE THEY WOULD'NT BE IN TROUBLE! THIS IS A BRIGHT AND WONDERFUL FUTURE FOR ELIAN???? FREE YOUR OWN MINDS AND FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!

When the Pedro Pan Mission was going on nobody asked if it was wrong to keep the children from there parents, many people opened there homes for total strangers. Why then is there so much debate in this case were a boy is here living with his family. If his father has a problem with it let him come to the U.S. with his family.

Ann, lets talk about the MEDIA. They will do anything to cover a story. They hound movie stars, politicians and people involved in news worthy events. Elian falls under news worthy. Why? because Fidel and the American Media have made it that way. The Miami family have asked time and time again to give the kid privacy and they even went as far as to put up a fence. They do not parade the kid around, the kid goes to school and returns home. He is followed by the Media. "FREEDOM" good word, Martin Luther King used it for his speeches. The same speeches can be used for the Cuban Exiles who had to leave Cuba. "LET FREEDOM RING" This could be solved so easily. Kill Castro, the Cubans leave your country and Miami is yours. You complain about us, you say we are the problem. Miami is booming economically because of the Cubans and other South American countries. The crime is diverse, We have problems with all the races. This is common for any big city. Elian has a right to live a life of "FREEDOM", because up to NOVEMBER 99 he lived in a communist society with no chance of becoming an educated well rounded man. ELIAN OUR PRAYERS WILL BE HEARD.

Elian deserves to be with his father wherever he is. If the U.S. is not careful, they will incite a war with the Cuban Government. If we didn't want to help with the Holocaust, why now would we put our nose in business where it does not belong. What about the thousands of other children who are under Cuban government? What makes Elian a special case? Maybe we should go over to Cuba and rescue all of the children. The U.S. does not what other countries sticking their noses in our affairs. What Cuba does is their business, What Africa does is their business. We cannot force our government and beliefs on someone else. Has anyone thought about how Elian's father feels? Elian is too young to make a responsible decision about his life. The only thing he sees all of the time are cameras, crowds, bright lights, and cool things to do.To him this seems very exciting, as it would to any child. Remember that according to the UNICEF child rights convention, every child has a right to their culture and heritage identity. The U.S. is not what defines who Elian is. Elian is a Cuban, and no matter how many papers are signed, he will always be a Cuban.Ask yourself this:if your child somehow ended up in another country against your immediate control, would you still be the parent?Would you still have parental rights? How about we just take your child because we don't agree with the government in which you live. We will take the child and make him one of our citizens.I thought you were the parent..

Granted I am only an American who has read a lot about this subject, but after reading the US State Department's Report on HUman Right Practices in Cuba, I firmly believe that Elian should have the right to stay in the US. I do find it odd that his father hasn't come to the US to be with him during the wait for a court date. I am sure that this is caused by one of two things; 1. that he wants to but can not, 2. he does not want to see the boy. In either case, Elian is better off in the long run in the US. I strongly believe in family, but the right to choose and freedom of speech, religion, the right to travel, the right to join a union or not or even the choice of whether or not to vote in an election, are all undeniable human rights. These come with life and go beyond the child-parent relationship. I will never visit Cuba because I refuse to give tourist dollars to a Dictator!

?Good book! For those of you that are not doing the devil's work but that are truly interested in finding out the sad situation people in Cuba are living, this book is truthful and to the point. The Book: CASTRO'S FINAL HOUR, by Andres Oppenheimer, co-winner of The Pulitzer Price. Read it, is an education! Cuba's present situation, although some people would like everyone to believe is a case of a poor country, were living is not great, sometimes referred to as a "third world country." Versus a capitalism country, were living is enjoying the very best the world can offer. This is not really the actual problem in Cuba. There is no freedom whatsoever! If Elian goes back to Cuba now, he will become a real "HOSTAGE" unable to leave the Island in the future. Why do you think his father has not rushed to his son's side, the loving, normal and human thing to do? Just ask any parent living in a free country!

?Ann, I feel you might need a little information about Cuba coming from someone other than a Cuban person. I believe people need facts in order to have an educated opinion on a certain subject. Some time ago someone on one of the many lists on the web posted the following book; “DRIVING THROUGH CUBA, AN EAST - WEST JOURNEY, by Carlo Gebler. I found it at a second hand book store and read it. I hope you will do the same. I left my country in 1960 as a child (my visa was specially signed by Raul Castro himself) alone with my mother who was 53. I remember in 1957/1958, my mother, moving guns and ammunition in a shopping bag covered with vegetables for Castro’s revolution. The day we were to leave Cuba, we closed the front door, as if we were going grocery shopping and never went back home, it's been 40 years. My father was unable to leave the island with us, because he was one of Castro's officials, having fought with Castro, Raul, and very close to Camilo (who Castro killed, and blamed it on an accident) at “Sierra Maestra.” My father was able to fool all of them and escaped, undetected, 6 months after we did. It took only 8 months for my father to find out that the Cuban people had been lied to. At the end of 1959 or the beginning of 1960, my father helped lots of political pensioners ( more than 80) scape from the jail he was in charge of. The reason, they were being tortured and treated inhumanly, and my father was not going to be part of a murderous regime! We, at the urge of the prisoners, left to another part of the island, as if we were on vacation, thus keeping my father out of the brake out. I remember when we got back, Castro’s own white helmet killer police, with their rifle fixed bayonets’ in hand, dripping with blood, from the political prisoners that didn’t make it out, were walking around, as if nothing had happened, actually laughing mocking the way the prisoners pleaded. I will never forget the terrible state of their bodies. The Cuban people didn’t hear about this cruel act, because the survivors were taken late at night on milk trucks to military hospitals, not regular hospitals. Try to put yourself and your family in that position. I hope you don’t think I am being nasty or disrespectful to you, that is not my intension. Cuba’s present situation is not like any other country. The totalitarian dictatorship that exists in the island is not presented to the world the way it really is. In Cuba the children do not belong to their parents, the constitution was changed by Castro, and the children belong to the government. They are taught to be communist and to hate the United States and it’s citizens with a vengeance. We have a terminal CANCER just 90 miles from USA territory, a crazy man that has turned a beautiful prosperous island into a dilapidated concentration camp and in the process has killed thousands of people.

Over $200,000.00 were collected for the Elian defense fund! This money is going to pay for "additional legal expenses"; legal stamps, investigators, researchers, Fed Ex, and whatever other expenses pop up. VERY IMPORTANT! The 7 lawyers working on Elian's case are working 100% pro bono (their time spent on Elian's defense is completely FREE.) It's a matter of fact, the money left over at the end will be donated to "LIGA CONTRA EL CANCER" (same as Cancer Society, but the Spanish branch.)
